The Fall Season in Croatia
After a bang-up summer season, the pace has slowed in Croatia as the locals get about their business. And what is their business? Festivals! Oh sure, some work gets done but work is interspersed with fun local festivals that showcase regional products and activities. Here are some of the best:
Istrian Days of Truffles
Truffles are the pride of the Istrian countryside and they are celebrated through mid-November with cooking shows, truffle auctions, truffle products and truffle-seeking demonstrations. Check out the truffle weekend coming up at the end of the week in Buzet where all sorts of truffle products will be available for sale. See more about the Buzet Truffle Weekend. Â While in the region, stop at the Zigante Truffle Days, held near Motovun. The end of truffle-tasting will be the weekend of 9 November in Motovun where the local wine, Teran, will be on the menu along with truffles. See more.
Saint Martin’s Day
Saint Martin’s Day is the feast day of Saint Martin, November 11, which happily coincides with the time of year when must turns into wine. Let’s party!
