Writer Jeff Greenwald started his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/Islands.htm\">Croatia island<\/a> journey on better-known <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/southern_dalmatia\/korcula\/KorculaIsland.htm\">Korcula Island<\/a>, staying in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/southern_dalmatia\/korcula\/Accommodation.htm\">Hotel Korcula<\/a>. After listening to local tales of the Marco Polo-Korcula connection (islanders are convinced the legendary explorer was born in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/southern_dalmatia\/korcula.htm\">Korcula Town<\/a>) the writer heads out to farther shores, that is, Vis Island.<\/p><div id=\"croat-4248843828\" class=\"croat-content croat-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4787844071747328\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4787844071747328\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7926307719\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;It is impossible to be bored on Vis&#8221; writes Greenwald. Just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/Activities\/Diving.htm\">scuba diving <\/a>through Vis&#8217;s fascinating underwater life, replete with ancient amphorae, shipwrecks, sponges and fish is an exploration of the island&#8217;s remarkable historical and natural heritage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No guidebook can account for the breathless, suspended feeling I get exploring Vis&#8221; writes Greenwald who made his way to both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/central%20dalmatia\/VisTown.htm\">Vis Town <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/central%20dalmatia\/Komiza.htm\">Komiza<\/a>, the two main island villages. Staying in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/central%20dalmatia\/VisAccommodation.html\">Hotel Tamaris <\/a>in Vis Town, Greenwald notes the difference in attitudes between the rival villages, finding Vis Town more artsy and Komiza with more of a fishermen&#8217;s feel.<\/p><div id=\"croat-535823173\" class=\"croat-content_2 croat-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4787844071747328\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4787844071747328\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7926307719\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Instead of doing the touristy thing and boating out to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/central%20dalmatia\/Bisevo.htm\">Blue Cave of Bisevo<\/a>, Greenwald visits Vis&#8217;s local celebrity, <strong>sculptor &#8220;Ico&#8221; Bulic<\/strong> whose whimsical wood and frond fish sculptures have already created a splash (sorry) in Zagreb.
