To be precise, the Croatian Civil Aviation Authority grounded the airline.<\/p><div id=\"croat-3719140588\" class=\"croat-content croat-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4787844071747328\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4787844071747328\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7926307719\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>The trouble began when the news portal, <strong>index.hr<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.index.hr\/vijesti\/clanak\/foto-index-otkriva-opasne-propuste-zaustavite-hidroavione-prije-nego-netko-pogine\/912419.aspx\">reported <\/a>that an investigation revealed serious safety defects. Pilots, former pilots, former employees and others gave detailed accounts of faulty maintenance, falsified documents, inebriated technicians, corroded cables and general negligence that amount to a devastating indictment of the airline&#8217;s safety. By the end of the day, the Croatian Civil Aviation Authority acted and the plane&#8217;s fleet was locked down in spite of a company statement on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ECAirlines\/\">Facebook page<\/a> attributing the problem to vengeful staff.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">What to Do?<\/h3>\n<p>Although the CEO, Klaus Dieter Martin, has optimistically asserted his belief that the airline should be up and running this week, that may not be the case. Travellers on tight holiday schedules should not rely on it. Those who have already booked a flight are of course entitled to a refund.
