But sometimes things can get just a teensy bit out of hand.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">New Rules<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2138\" src=\"http:\/\/croatiatraveller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/stop.jpg\" alt=\"stop\" width=\"544\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/croatiatraveller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/stop.jpg 544w, https:\/\/croatiatraveller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/stop-272x300.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 544px) 100vw, 544px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of\u00c2\u00a0 course it&#8217;s hot right now in Croatia (<a href=\"http:\/\/croatiatraveller.com\/blog\/keeping-cool-croatia\/2016\/07\/13\/\">see my suggestions for keeping cool in Croatia<\/a>) but one thing you must do is <strong>keep your clothes on! <\/strong>Even though you&#8217;re on holiday, you may not parade around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/southern_dalmatia\/Dubrovnik\/dubrovnik_index.htm\">Dubrovnik<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/central%20dalmatia\/Split.htm\">Split<\/a> in your bathing suit or remain shirtless. It&#8217;s now the law. Both cities have passed ordinances slapping down fines of 1000Kn (\u00e2\u201a\u00ac133) on the scantily clad. Ouch. Ignore the explicit signs (above) at your peril. As a fragile ecosystem, it is forbidden for visitors to roam at will. <strong>Keeping to the wooden walkways is mandatory<\/strong>. And, while selfies are not outlawed (yet), the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service is imploring visitors to abstain in view of several serious accidents in the park.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Dear tourists, we respect you. For the time being, appropriate footwear is strongly advised but not mandatory.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">New World Heritage Site<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/Heritage_Sites\/Stecci.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2144\" src=\"http:\/\/croatiatraveller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Stecak-Dalmatia-e1470149624111.jpg\" alt=\"Stecak-Dalmatia\" width=\"550\" height=\"355\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Plitvice Lakes is not Croatia&#8217;s only World Heritage Site. There are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/Heritage_Sites\/HeritageSites.htm\">eight World Heritage Sites <\/a>in Croatia most of them much less crowded than celebrated Plitvice. The newest WHS, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiatraveller.com\/Heritage_Sites\/Stecci.html\"><em>Stecci<\/em><\/a>, is actually in two locations in Dalmatia, neither of which get many visitors.<strong> Dubravka<\/strong> and <strong>Cista Velika<\/strong> are small villages that feature the 14th and 15th century tombstones known as <em>stecci<\/em>.
