Zagreb: What do visitors REALLY think?

I think Zagreb is a great city but am I objective? Not so much, maybe. It’s always good to get person-on-the-street impressions and that’s what the Zagreb tourist office has done.  They’ve conducted extensive surveys last year and here’s what they found:

  • People want to know. . .is Zagreb a gay-friendly city? If so, come out of the closet and declare it.
  • And, while you’re at it, what’s the deal with tax refunds for goods purchased in Croatia?
  • More and better public toilets would be nice
  • Souvenir shops should, well, exist for one thing and then sell stuff that people want to buy
  • And let’s clear the air about one thing: the no-smoking in public places rule should be enforced

But the Zagreb tourist office gets raves for its efficient, helpful and friendly personnel. Exactly right.
