Rebuffed in the Balkans

I understand that Croatia emerged from a very bitter period in the 90s and is sensitive about its history but maybe it’s time to put the past behind. I’m talking about the country’s unrelenting hostility to the idea that they are part of the “Balkans”.

  1. Don’t I know it. I have to work with the electric power people who insist they are only connected to “civilised” countries who are EU Member States. This is despite the fact that the Croats managed a reconnection to Bosnia recently.
